UPDATED: MAY 2013
Kalibo is one of the main hubs towards Boracay. It is about 2 hours bus or van ride away from Caticlan jetty Port, where you will ride a boat (about 5-15 minutes ride) to get to the beautiful island of Boracay.
Kalibo is a good choice if you are in a budget–except of course if there is an ongoing sale for Caticlan which rarely happens– It is a good way to save money, and of course the mountainous or forested scenery is a plus if you choose Kalibo. Manila to Caticlan fares (regular fares) are usually PhP 7,000-10,000 while Manila to Kalibo the regular fares are around P3000-P4500, so as you can see there is a big difference! *Advise: Wait for airline seat-sales because they lower the price for about 75% so you can save a lot.
After your arrival in Kalibo International Airport, you can see a lot of stalls offering a package of either bus or van with ferry ride. This package usually costs from 200-300PhP depending on the bus/van company. During my visit we opted to ride a van which costs P250.00 (the company that runs it is KIATA).
The stalls are located right in front the baggage-claim area.
After 2 hours of traveling we were dropped off to Caticlan Jetty Port where we paid environmental fee, terminal fees and other kind of fees. We were also required to sign up in the visitors’ log sheet where everyone is required to sign in order for the local government unit to monitor the number of people coming into the island.
BEFORE YOU ENTER CATICLAN JETTY PORT, there are counters waiting for you at the side of the entrance. You should not go inside the jetty port UNTIL you already paid the things you need to pay, such as terminal fee, environmental fee and alike. If you are such a naughty kid “so makulit” you will be told to go out again to do what you should do, which only means that you’ll be hassled again because of the tedious security check. Save yourself the hassle of opening your bags and repeating the same procedure. So, Before you get inside please pay your dues…
Environmental fee: P100.00 (updated May 2013).
Terminal Fee: P100.00 (Updated May 2013)
*Students and senior citizens are given discounts, for environmental fee, you will only pay P75.00 .
so, present your ID’s!!!
TERMINAL FEE:
PUMP BOAT TICKET IF YOU DID NOT AVAIL OF PACKAGE RATES IN KALIBO
You also need to sign up your names if you are visiting Boracay, so that LGU’s will have information regarding the number and the names of the people who visited this number 1 tourist destination in the Philippines.
The ferry ride is just 15 minutes, so basically, after 2 hours and 15 minutes of travel you will arrive to the mesmerizing island of Boracay…
BUT! after that 15 minutes ferry ride, you still need to ride a trike (tricycle) which costs at around P100.00 or 2USD to get to the White Beach where most of the hotels are located. P100.00 is for the whole trike, so you won’t share it with anybody, it can carry up to 4-5 people. But, if you are really in a budget, you can share the tricycle with other people. Our hotel is located near D’Mall (in between station 2 and station 1) so maybe if your hotel is in Station 1, the price will be higher.
Although it seems tiring to get to Boracay after deplaning in Kalibo… Everything just seems to go away once you catch a glimpse of the glistening sand and turquoise water of Boracay.
HAPPY WANDERING!

haizz! ang hirap nga talaga makabook ng seat sale sa cebupacific. ang bilis mag soldout. pero thanks sa advice mo na pwede rin pala sa kalibo ang bound.

Hi Kristel! Thanks for visiting my blog!
to caticlan port–> you’ll buy the ticket in boracay port. To Kalibo airport–> you’ll buy your ticket in the van station terminal in front of caticlan jetty port..
Hope this answered your question!

Very informative blog! I’ll be going to bora on august 2013 and im preparing as early as now. If i got it right..the P250 of Kiata van already includes the Ferry fee. That’s a total of P375/head to reach bora..right?
Hi Henry, thanks for your comment, yes, it’s 375 pesos (as of Summer 2012).
Thanks for this blog yannah
anyway we’ll be going to bora on June 2013. ask ko lng how much ang boat ride from caticlan port to bora each person except for the fees?
Hi Lheng, it usually costs Php15.00-40.00., depends on the boat company you’ll be using. Anyway, It’s just a 15-20 minute boat ride, so the price are almost the same.
Just an update here. Pump boat ride is only 25 pesos

Hi! I love Thailand! I’ve been there three times but spent most of my time north at Chiang Mai.
Hi good morning blogger…ask ko lang po if until wat tym ung ferryboat going to boracay kasi, my flight to kalibo is around 5pm..so basically ill arrived at Caticlan 6pm..so is there a ride pa going to the island of boracay on that time..Thank you.
Hi Roquiza, unfortunately I don’t know what time the last boat from Caticlan Jetty Port towards Boracay departs. If ever I’ll go back again in Boracay anytime soon, I’ll ask. Sorry.
na search ko na po..until 10pm ung byahe ng ferryboat papunta sa boracay island..so no worry na po ako..thnks for d reply…
Hi! just want to ask if same cost of fares and fees will be collected from boracay to kalibo airport or its just one time fees at the caticlan jetty port?
Hi, from my recent visit in boracay this April-May, they also collect fees in the Boracay port, such as terminal fee= 100.00php and a boat ride ticket (25.00)
When was this taken? Kasi when I went to Boracay last June 17, 2012 saka November 20, 2012, 100 Pesos na ang terminal fee both in Caticlan and Cagban Jetty ports. They said once all improvements are done, saka lang daw ibabalik sa 50 Pesos. I’ll be in Boracay in a few days kaya I’m searching some articles para malaman ko if it is still 100 Pesos.
It was taken last April 2013, late post lang
I’ll update it soon.
Just got home from May 1 adventure from Bora.. And yes, it’s now 100.00
Hi Yannah, thanks for your blog! …very helpful! ..ask ko lng if it is advisable na advance booking ako sa Kiata for a Van going to Caticlan?.. Do they have numbers to contact to??..Will arrive po kasi ng Early morning ng Sunday ..and we are travelling on a group of 15 including children.many thanks!
Hi yannah if im not mistaken ang 12years old below ay walang bayad sa terminal fee? At ano bang murang hotel ang mai susuggest mo? Thanks
Only five years old below are exempted from terminal fee: as seen in the photo above. But children 12 years and below are exempted in paying the environmental fee. I can suggest white beach de boracay or boracay residences. Here’s my review about white beach de boracay http://yannahthewanderer.wordpress.com/2013/01/25/budget-place-to-stay-in-boracay-philippines-white-beach-de-boracay/
Thank you for very informative blog….it very helpful especially for na first time mkapunta ng boracay….my tanong p po ako 24 hrs po ba ang transportation from boracay to kalibo kasi 8:40am ang flyt nmin pbalik ng manila ?thanks a lot and God Bless…
Nope, it’s not 24 hours. The last trip (Caticlan to Boracay) is by 10pm. During the mornings, I’m not sure what time boat operations starts…my friend wasn’t able to ride her plane because there’s no ferry boat going to Caticlan at 2am– her flight was 6am.
